WSK Medical and Founda Health Receive MIT R&D Grant for Development of Integrated AI Analysis in Founda Health Platform

Amsterdam, The Netherlands - WSK Medical and Founda Health are pleased to announce to have received the MIT R&D grant to jointly utilize the Founda Health platform for automated, integrated analysis of head and neck cancer by utilizing Zeno AI, the first on the market (pending CE-MDR approval) real-time detection and classification solution for head and neck cancers and benign lesions.

This collaborative R&D project aims at the development of a SIDECAR system, an AI system for the real-time analysis of head and neck cancer during an endoscopy. The SIDECAR system will consist of (i) a data translation platform (the Founda Health Platform) that is able to translate medical image data, both live and historical, from hospital applications and data sources for use in a (ii) AI software unit (Zeno AI) that uses this input data for the real-time analysis of head and neck cancer. The endoscopy video data obtained live will be checked with a (iii) XAI quality control unit, and live feedback will be produced to improve the physician's uptake of the video data via the endoscopy (called Human in the Loop).

The SIDECAR system’s ability to assist in the early detection and classification of head and neck cancers is expected to help clinicians identify and treat cancers earlier, leading to better prognoses and improved treatment outcomes. By enabling a standardized integrated solution in the Founda Health platform, both deployment as well as standardization in use and reporting, will be enabled more efficient and therefore will benefit AI adoption in head and neck oncology. 

Once finalized, the system will be deployed to healthcare institutions for further evaluation and, ultimately, integration into clinical practice.
