Once again, Treant has integrated an innovative app into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with the assistance of Founda Health. This time, it involves Novacair's E-POS solution, enabling the Anesthesia department within Treant to conduct pre-operative screenings electronically.

Reduced Hospital Visits for Patients

Every patient scheduled for surgery must undergo a preoperative screening, a crucial step in their surgical journey. With the introduction of E-POS, patients can conveniently fill out the screening questionnaire from the comfort of their homes. Previously, each patient had to visit the hospital for the screening; however, with the use of E-POS, this is no longer necessary for 85%* of the patients.

*This percentage refers to general E-POS usage and is not specific to Treant.

Integrated Data Exchange Between EHR and E-POS

Through the Founda integration, the E-POS is automatically generated for a patient and sent to the patient, based on data automatically transferred from the EHR to E-POS when the patient is placed on the surgery waiting list. Founda’s Subscription Service provides real-time notifications to E-POS for relevant events in the EHR, including new patient registrations, cancellations, postponed surgeries, and updates to patient contact information. The completed patient screening from E-POS is automatically uploaded into the patient's record in the EHR via Founda.

More Time for Patients with Data Integrity Preserved

Overall, the integrated E-POS solution allows the anesthesia team to allocate more time in the department for the screenings of complex patients, reducing the risk of complications. All patient-related information is conveniently accessible in the patient's record, eliminating the need for manual data transfer between systems. This collaboration ensures not only data integrity but also provides a clear overview of patient screenings, enhancing the overall efficiency of the preoperative process.

About Novacair's E-POS

E-POS originated from practical experience. Anesthesiologist Rik Bijl observed how much time he and his colleagues spent on a 'one size fits all' approach to preoperative screening. Every patient scheduled for surgery undergoes a similar screening for risks during the operation. The added value of this consultation is not equally significant for every patient, especially considering the shortage of anesthesia personnel in the operating room.

Against this backdrop, E-POS was developed; a digital system that safely screens and informs patients through a questionnaire (available in 9+ languages) to support anesthesiological informed consent. Based on the patient's input, a scientifically validated algorithm recommends the desirable follow-up consultations and additional diagnostics for each patient. All this information is summarized in a medical summary sent back to the Electronic Patient Record (EPD). As a result, patients often do not need to visit the hospital, saving healthcare providers a significant amount of time.

Grote efficiëntieslag voor Treant met de implementatie van een geïntegreerde Elektronische Preoperatieve Screening (E-POS) oplossing van Novacair!

Opnieuw heeft Treant met de hulp van Founda Health een innovatieve app geïntegreerd in het Elektronisch Patiëntendossier (EPD). Deze keer gaat het om Novacair's E-POS oplossing, waarmee de afdeling Anesthesiologie binnen Treant preoperatieve screenings nu elektronisch kan uitvoeren.

“Met het gebruik van E-POS hoeven patiënten minder vaak een bezoek aan het ziekenhuis te brengen. Maar het ziekenhuis bespaart ook veel tijd doordat Founda de integratie met het EPD heeft verzorgd. Als een patiënt nu op de wachtlijst voor een operatie wordt gezet gaat de koppeling met E-POS meteen van start en krijgt de patiënt automatisch een screeningslijst toe gemaild. Minder Ziekenhuisbezoeken voor Patiënten

Elke patiënt die wordt ingepland voor een operatie moet een preoperatieve screening ondergaan, een cruciale stap in hun chirurgische traject. Met de introductie van E-POS kunnen patiënten gemakkelijk de screeningsvragenlijst invullen vanuit hun eigen huis. Voorheen moesten patiënten voor de screening naar het ziekenhuis komen, maar met het gebruik van E-POS is dit niet langer nodig voor 85%* van de patiënten.*Dit percentage heeft betrekking op algemeen E-POS-gebruik en is niet specifiek voor Treant.

Geïntegreerde Gegevensuitwisseling Tussen EPD en E-POS

Dankzij de Founda-integratie wordt de E-POS automatisch gegenereerd en naar de patiënt gestuurd, gebaseerd op gegevens die automatisch vanuit het EPD naar E-POS worden verzonden wanneer de patiënt op de wachtlijst voor een operatie wordt geplaatst. Founda's Subscription Service zorgt voor realtime meldingen naar E-POS voor relevante gebeurtenissen in het EPD, waaronder nieuwe patiënt registraties, annuleringen, uitgestelde operaties en updates van contactgegevens van de patiënt. De ingevulde screeningsgegevens van de patiënt worden automatisch via Founda geüpload in het dossier van de patiënt in het EPD.

Meer Tijd voor Patiënten met Behoud van Gegevensintegriteit

Een geïntegreerde E-POS oplossing brengt de administratiedruk omlaag en stelt het anesthesieteam in staat meer tijd te besteden aan complexere screenings, waardoor het risico op complicaties wordt verminderd. Alle patiëntgerelateerde informatie is gemakkelijk toegankelijk in het patiëntendossier, zonder dat gegevens handmatig tussen systemen hoeven te worden overgedragen. Deze samenwerking waarborgt niet alleen de data-integriteit, maar biedt ook een duidelijk overzicht van patiënt screenings, waardoor de algehele efficiëntie van het preoperatieve proces wordt verbeterd.

Over Novacair E-POS

E-POS is in de praktijk ontstaan. Anesthesioloog Rik Bijl zag hoeveel tijd hij en zijn collega’s kwijt zijn aan een ‘one size fits all’ benadering van de preoperatieve screening. Elke patiënt die aangemeld is voor een operatie, wordt op een vergelijkbare wijze gescreend op risico’s tijdens een operatie. De meerwaarde van dit consult is niet bij elke patiënt even groot. En dat terwijl er een groot tekort is aan anesthesiemedewerkers op de OK.

Tegen die achtergrond is E-POS ontwikkelt; een digitaal systeem dat patiënten door middel van een vragenlijst (in 9+ talen) veilig screent en informeert ter ondersteuning van het anesthesiologisch informed consent. Op grond van de input van de patiënt adviseert een wetenschappelijk gevalideerd algoritme welke vervolgconsulten en aanvullende diagnostiek wenselijk is per patiënt. Al deze gegevens worden samengevat in medische samenvatting die teruggestuurd wordt naar het EPD. Hierdoor hoeft de patiënt vaak niet naar het ziekenhuis te komen én besparen zorgverleners veel tijd.
